Provincial Grand Lodge of Down

Richard Henderson Gray was born in Bangor in 1947. Educated at Bangor Grammar School before moving to The Queens University of Belfast. Upon graduating with a PhD he was offered a position with the Ministry of Agriculture from where he retired in December 2006.
He was initiated into Bangor Union Masonic Lodge No. 746 in September 1974, becoming Worshipful Master in 1983, before succeeding his late father as Secretary. He was a Founder Member of Lodge Ireland 2000, Ireland’s first and only internet Lodge, where he served as Director of Ceremonies until 2004. Serving each Office from Inner Guard, he was Installed as Worshipful Master on 2nd January 2010.
Within Provincial Grand Lodge he was elected as a Provincial Grand Steward in 1988 and appointed as an Honorary Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 1990. He served the Office of Provincial Grand Secretary for five years until 2000, before being appointed as  Provincial Grand Master. He was installed on 29th March 2008.
