R.W.Bro. John Crawford Clarke
Was born and raised in Belfast. He was educated initially at Rosetta Primary School and then at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution.
He joined the workforce of Clarence Engineering Company Limited, the Standard-Triumph Distributors for N. Ireland. After fourteen years there he took up employment with Shell UK Oil which necessitated a transfer to England; where he was to remain for a further eighteen years, residing in Edinburgh, St. Albans, Harrogate and Wilmslow, before he returned to Belfast in 1992.
He was initiated into Melrose No. 612 in 1964, occupied the chair in 1975.
Because of the untimely closure of Melrose Lodge in 1993 he affiliated to T. Hay Masonic Lodge, No. 685 where he was Worshipful Master in 2007. He is a founder member of Rosetta Lodge of Installed Masters, No.188 and while serving as Secretary of 188 that he was appointed as Provincial Grand Masters Standard Bearer; becoming appointed a Provincial Grand Inspector in 2003.
After several years as Lodge Representative, he was elected as Chairman of the Ballymacarrett District Committee of Inspection in 2006.
His current responsibilities on behalf of the Province are for :- Grand Lodge of Instruction, District classes of Instruction, Halls & Social Clubs, Provincial Grand Lodge Registrar and Provincial Grand Lodge Website.
